Actress, Janine DiVita, has been called “Enchanting,” “Charismatic,” and “Magnificent,” by critics. Only a few years since graduating from the prestigious University of Michigan’s Musical Theatre program, Miss DiVita has proven herself to be to be quite the versatile leading lady. 


On Broadway, Miss DiVita enjoyed a long run

playing Betty Rizzo (opposite American Idol’s

Ace Young) in the 2007 Revival of “Grease”

(directed by Kathleen Marshall).

Off-Broadway, she played Susan in “The Day

Before Spring” at the York Theatre

(directed by David Glenn Armstrong). 

She also starred Off-Off Broadway as Gina in

the rock musical, “Rainbow Around The Sun”

(directed by Nick Demos), at the 45th street theatre. 


Miss DiVita has had the privilege of performing leading roles at Tony Award winning Regional Theatres.  Such roles and theatres include Nancy in “Oliver” (Walnut Street Theatre, directed by Mark Clements), Terri in “Sophisticated Ladies”- starring Maurice Hines (Arena Stage, directed by Charles Randolph-Wright), Young Little Edie Beale in “Grey Gardens” (Portland Center Stage, directed by Chris Coleman), Dot in “Sunday in the Park with George” (Heritage Repertory Theatre, directed by Bob Chapel), Sister Mary Amnesia in “Nunsense” (Heritage Repertory Theatre, directed by Renee Dobson),  Cinderella in “Cinderella” (Kansas City Lyric Opera), the Lucie understudy in “A Tale of Two Cities” (Asolo Repertory Theatre, directed by Michael Donald Edwards), “Annie Get Your Gun” (St. Louis Muny), “Singin’ in the Rain” (KC Starlight, directed by Lee Roy Reams), and “Hello, Dolly! Starring Michelle Lee” (Regional Tour, directed by Lee Roy Reams). 


Ms. DiVita’s concert performance venues in New York City include Lincoln Center, Laurie Beechman Theatre,  The Canal Room, and The Vagabond Theatre Company.  She has also performed in concert with Arizona Opera Company and Opera New Jersey.  Her solo, “Invisible” is available on Bobby Cronin’s Album titled  “Reach The Sky” (available for purchase on Itunes).


Ms. DiVita is incredibly passionate about new works.

Since moving to New York City, Janine has worked

on several new readings and workshops and she has

recorded countless demo recordings for new

composers.  She believes participating in these

progressive and exciting stepping stones is a critical

experience that paves the way for live theatre’s

meaningful future.

Miss DiVita is the first winner of The Alan

Eisenberg/Actors’ Equity Award for Achievement in

Musical Theatre and is the winner of the Earl

V. Moore Award at the University of Michgan.

She holds a Bachelors in Fine Arts from The

University of Michigan as well as a Concentration in

Communications Studies from The University of

Michigan.  In New York, she continues her studies

with Scott Freeman, Marianne Challis, and

Ellen Novack.  


In addition to performing, Miss DiVita is the

Co-director of Artistic Programming (with her business

partner, Tenor, Glenn Seven Allen) of Springpoint Foundation, which provides senior living communities of New Jersey with top Broadway and Opera entertainment concerts. 


Miss DiVita is also an avid teacher.  She has been invited to teach at various programs and universities around the country such as St. Joseph’s University, Theatre Horizon, “Broadway Comes To Denver,” and “Making It On Broadway.”  Her program titled “Dream and Reach” helps community theatre actors in their audition and performance preparation and self-confidence.  Miss DiVita finds this to be especially rewarding since she credits much of her success to the support and creativity she found in the community theatres in her hometown of Overland Park, Kansas. Currently, Miss DiVita can be seen performing in the hit show,  “Sophisticated Ladies,” at the historic Lincoln Theatre in Washington, DC (produced by Arena Stage, directed by Charles Randolph-Wright and starring Maurice Hines).  She sings iconic Duke Ellington hits such as, “Hit Me With a Hot Note and Watch Me Bounce,” “Squeeze Me,” “Mood Indigo,” and “Imagine My Frustration.”
